As the 2024 election cycle continues to ramp up ahead of Nov. 5, housing has emerged as a key issue for both parties, with a focus on increasing supply and breaking down regulatory barriers — highlights of Â鶹TV’s 10-point plan to help solve the housing affordability crisis.

Â鶹TV has been actively involved in the housing discussions through its participation in both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. Â鶹TV Chairman Carl Harris and First Vice Chairman Buddy Hughes were in attendance at each event, along with Â鶹TV staff, to keep housing at the forefront of campaigns on both sides of the aisles.

Â鶹TV’s engagement involved:

  • Meeting key officials, including:
    • Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Walz
    • Majority Leader Steve Scalise
    • Majority Whip Tom Emmer
    • Democratic Whip Katherine Clark
    • Kirsten Hillman, Canadian Ambassador to the U.S.
    • Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.)
    • Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.)
    • Rep. Gabe Amo (D-R.I.)
    • Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.)
    • Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.)
    • Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.)

  • Participation in events and roundtables, such as:

Â鶹TV has created to an Election 2024 section to continue to promote housing as a key issue in this election cycle. This includes both Â鶹TV’s advocacy and public relations efforts, nationwide news coverage highlighting housing and its importance to voters, how to promote voting and learn about housing policies in your area, as well as Â鶹TV’s congressional endorsements.

New home sales ended 2025 on a mixed but resilient note, signaling steady underlying demand despite ongoing affordability and supply constraints. The latest data released today (and delayed because of the government shutdown in fall of 2025) indicate that while month-to-month activity shows a small decline, sales remain stronger than a year ago, signaling that buyer interest in newly built homes has improved.

Delinquent consumer loans have steadily increased as pandemic distortions fade, returning broadly to pre-pandemic levels. According to the latest Quarterly Report on Household Debt and Credit from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, 4.8% of outstanding household debt was delinquent at the end of 2025, 0.3 percentage points higher than the third quarter of 2025 and 1.2% higher from year-end 2024.
